That's the first sound out of me when my eyes open in the morning, after hitting the snooze button several times, and feeling the aching in my back from raking. Sure, I LOVE manual labor, I really do, but after spending the past 5 months behind a computer and a camera.... my shoulder and back are a little out of practice. The hours spent at the gym just don't quite hit the same muscles as the raking hits.
But I welcome the change in season. I love my golf course. I can't WAIT to walk around my 2nd home and mow the long narrow fairways, the little par 3's, my favorite #18 North fairway when the golfers haven't quite hit that hole yet.
This was my first day back. Driving around in the old cushman cart and stopping by every sandtrap to blow any of last seasons pine needles and debris away. Away for the golfers to play. Opening day.
And what a better way to start the season than to outline the fairways..... ah, my favorite. =)
Tuesday? Day 2.... was a snow day.
Woke up to 5 inches on the deck.... hit the gym,
Follow the surprise day off with the mountainfilms tour movie date night.
Inspiring...
Day 3...
The dreaded raking. I really do love to rake... but the 5 hours definitely took it's toll with blisters, aches, and cracked hands. And it begins...
And due to the snow on the course... we all found a spot to rake... and we buffed it out good!
As I raked away... this strolled by...
Day 4. FAIRWAYS! Yay!!
Already my favorite summer activity is knocking on my door.
Minus the muddiness... the worm casings, some showers, and unmowable puddles... it was fantastic.
My first stripe of the season.... =)
And then the rain hit...
My partner in crime...
And finally day 5. Friday. A real Friday. After a winter of working non-stop on the ski hill, I too will have a weekend to not work. =) Just what the doctor ordered.
But Friday will be working. Mowing mowing mowing... and mud mud mud. Caked on mud all over my reels. Pain... but... I love to mow. It will be warm and sunny soon....
Love seeing friends out enjoying the course we work so hard to make play good and look even better. Go Forest!
